2017 China Summer Study Program
Beijing Xi'an Shanghai
Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration University of North Dakota
Angela Harrison-Urlacher is the instructor for this program in which students play an active role in designing their own fieldwork projects and itineraries.
All participants must enroll in three UND courses as follows:
Spring 2017 (3 credits at UND)
Introduction to Business in China
Summer 2017 (6 credits in China)
China Then and Now
Business Fieldwork in Shanghai
Possible Excursions and Activities during summer courses may include:
Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Capital Museum, Gongfu Program, Panjiayuan Market
Yuyuan Garden, Old City, 1st National CCP Congress Museum, Jade Buddha Temple, Residence of Sun Yat-sen, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai World Financial Center, Huangpu River Cruise, Shanghai Acrobats, Urban Planning Museum, Ming-style canal town, Optional trip to Hangzhou
Terracotta Soldiers and Horses, Forest of Stone Tables, Shaanxi History Museum, Qianling Mausoleum
Students should plan to purchase their round trip air ticket to China (est. $1400) before the end of February when rates tend to increase.
Tuition for the two summer courses in China is payable according to the normal UND summer sessions tuition and fee payment schedule.
Students may apply for an increase in their spring and summer financial aid package based on increased program costs. They may also be eligible to apply for CoBPA travel grants.
Program Fees $2,900
Program fees cover all hotels in China; in-country transportation from Beijing to Xi’an to Shanghai; all hotel transfers; all tours and tour guides; most breakfasts; a farewell dinner; Chinese visa ($140); non-refundable UND Study Abroad application fee ($50); and UND-required medical insurance ($40).
Program fees do not include the following additional costs to students: summer school tuition (6 credits); travel to and from China; U.S. passport; inoculations or other medical costs; most meals and entertainment in China; museum entrance fees.
(The fees are based on the 2016 costs and are subject to change until the trip is booked.)
All students who complete the application will be assessed a non-refundable $50 application fee to their UND student account regardless of acceptance decision.
