The University of Otago is New Zealand's first university, being founded in 1869. The University has over 20,000 students and faculty come from all over the world. Dunedin is the only true university city in New Zealand and a vibrant student community surrounds the academic hub. 

University of Otago International "Summer" Program

| Location


The University of Otago is located on the south island in the coastal city of Dunedin, a city of over 100,000. It provides students the opportunity to be near the ocean with Mount Cargill in the background. 

| Academics


Study abroad students are able to take courses within Business, Media, Film, Communications, New Zealand Culture, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Marine Sciences, Health, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Math, Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Recreation, Sport and Exercise Science, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. 

| Housing


University of Otago flats are ideal for students staying for one semester. These flats normally have a New Zealand host student. The flats are fully-furnished and close to the campus.  Electricity, internet, and a bedding pack are all included in the overall cost. There are also some flats that have been modified for students with disabilities. Residential contracts are usually for24 weeks for each semester of study.
